בארי אבידן

Barry Avidan (1960) began his artistic career as a dancer in the Shalom 80 troupe - with the choreographer Gavri Levy and continued his career in the troupe of the renowned choreographer, Yonatan Carmon, in the Jerusalem troupe where he also served as an assistant choreographer and acquired the need and passion for creativity and love and the foundations of Israeli culture and dance.

In 1984 he began his studies at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem and in 1988 he traveled for a period to study at a number of dance schools and academies in Paris.

​

Since beginning his career as a dancer, Avidan has made his mark as a choreographer in a large number of dance troupes in the country.

 

Barry Avidan, created and was responsible for a number of important productions and shows in Israel, such as:

• 2011 Choreography at the main beacon lighting ceremony on Mount Herzl.

• 2010 Hanukkah - Choreography and costume design for the musical Ali Baba and the 40 bandits.

• 2000 - Artistic management and choreography at the opening ceremony of the Carmiel Dance Festival.

• 2000 - Artistic management and choreography for live television broadcast at the World Millennium Celebrations broadcast from Israel to all television networks in the world.

• 1997 - Artistic management and choreography at the opening ceremony of the 15th Maccabiah Games.

• Preparation of a special show and performances at the opening of the Israeli pavilion at Disney World Orlando in Epcot Center at the Millennium Celebrations.

• Avidan also directed and choreographed a number of musicals that were staged as major shows in the country.

Avidan's experience and talent are translated into didactic lectures in the field of ethnic dance at the Robin - Jerusalem Academy of Dance and Music.

​

Avidan has won numerous choreography and costume design competitions for the stage.

​
